If the Way Before You is Clear

This week we are working in Mission, staying at the Best Western between long days on set. So I'm just heading to bed and watching "A Beautiful Mind." The secret service is definitely up to something, as usual. First, Russel Crowe gives his students a math problem that will take the whole semester to solve, and then Jennifer Connelly asks him out, and then they make out, and I don't know what happens after that because I have to sleep. Running around dressing actors in the wilderness, petting horses and questioning all my life choices is exhausting. So in between, in film life, we hurry up and suntan half perched on apple boxes, and I find myself still loving the adventure of movie-making. The fresh air, the sunshine, meeting new friends and co-collaborators, and I can't help thinking about Carl Jung's quote,
"If the way before you is clear, you're likely on someone else's path."
As my head hits the pillow, a feeling washes over me that it's ok not to have everything perfectly worked out all the time. A little uncertainty, perhaps, helps us know we are going our unique way.
